In common with local authorities across England, Sheffield City Council has been subject to budget cuts in recent years, affecting some of its services. As a result, in 2012/2013, the Council’s City Wide Care Alarms service was required to examine ways in which it could operate more cost effectively, and so began to explore options for delivering the service in a different way. In early 2013, the Council undertook a procurement exercise, meeting with three telecare monitoring providers, and choosing Tunstall Response for the delivery of the five year contract due to its superior infrastructure, procedures and service delivery.

Tunstall Americas Acquires Lifeline Hawaii Services

Tunstall Healthcare Group has acquired Lifeline Hawaii Services via its US subsidiary, Tunstall Americas. The acquisition expands Tunstall’s leadership role in consolidating the fragmented connected healthcare market by acquiring and partnering with highly regarded regional providers of connected healthcare monitoring services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. This acquisition represents Tunstall Americas’ eleventh competitive service conversion since November 2014.

Case study: Tunstall Televida and Apocare using telemonitoring in pharmacies to improve outcomes and efficiency

Tunstall Televida is Spain’s leading provider of telecare, monitoring, response and associated services, supporting more than 245,000 people. Working with Canadian-owned pharmaceutical company Apotex, Tunstall Televida has developed Apocare, a healthcare software platform designed for the use in pharmacies.
In this case the pharmacist will always help the users take their health measurements using various devices such as weighing scales, pulse oximeter, thermometer, blood pressure monitor and glucose meter. Data from the devices is automatically transmitted to a secure platform for analysis and reporting, and can be accessed remotely by clinicians with relevant permissions to enable them to manage medical alerts and plan future care. Information is also collected in a comprehensive health status report for
users to take away.
